Margaret was born on February 15, 1955, to Glen and Florence (Moore) Foster of Birch River, Manitoba. She grew up at the family farm and was the second of five children, younger to Kathleen and older to Glenda, Earle, and Mary.
She spent her younger years enjoying the garden, many days were spent hoeing weeds and doing farm chores until she left the farm. She attended 4-H with her siblings, she attended early education at McKinley School and then on to Birch River for Junior High and was a graduate of the first graduating class of SVRSS in 1973. After which and during she was duly employed as a health care aide at Birch River Hospital leading her way to move on to become a Medical Records Technician at St. Anthony’s General Hospital in The Pas.
It was during these years she met her first husband Neil Bruce and then moved on to Snow Lake and were married. Two sons Curt and Grant joined the family. Curt in May of 1978 and Grant in June of 1980. They lived in Snow Lake for the remainder of their marriage and in 1992 Margaret moved to Bowsman as a single mother. She worked tirelessly to provide a better life for herself and her children. After raising her boys alone for the remainder of their upbringing she met Tom Tamblyn in 1998 and in 2003 they were married. She took in Tom’s daughter Courtney as her own for the rest of her childhood. They lived in Bowsman and then Swan River where they lived until Margaret’s passing.
Margaret touched many lives through her sewing machine. If you knew her you know that her sewing room was her serenity, her solace, her sanctuary, her meeting place, and her peace. And the tools of her trade that she enjoyed wholeheartedly and was a master of her art.
Margaret continued to work tirelessly for the remainder of her years, always multiple jobs and always out in the community. She enjoyed being at the Legion or in her little sanctuary known as her sewing room!
Margaret always said there wasn’t a problem that she couldn’t sew her way out of and the machines in heaven are working overtime today.
Margaret is survived by her husband Tom and her sons Curt and Grant Bruce and their children and Tom’s children Derek (Melody) Tamblyn, Dustin (Devon) Tamblyn, Courtney (Danny) Knight and their children and her siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. She is also survived by many honorary daughters and their families and was Granny to them all. Margaret was predeceased by her parents Glen and Florence Foster.
