Mary Elizabeth Harness (Kyles)

June 8, 1927 - December 25, 2024

  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary on December 25, 2024, at the Benito Health Centre at the age of 97.

  Mary was born in the Durban District to Thomas and Elizabeth Kyles on June 8, 1927.

Mary attended Durban School and then moved to Winnipeg for an Accountant Course.  She returned home 3 years later to be near her parents.  Mary was later employed at W.F. Schneider & Sons as a Secretary.  On November 17, 1953, she married Irwin (Tiny) Russell Harness.  They moved to Benito where they farmed, worked and built a house.

  Mary and Tiny enjoyed life travelling, coast to coast in Canada, abroad and winters in Arizona.

Mary enjoyed knitting, curling, reading, bingo, and playing cards. She also enjoyed volunteering at local Tea's and Bake Sales.  Mary had a puzzle set up in her house and you were always welcomed to help put a few pieces in place while enjoying a visit with her.

  Following many medical issues, Irwin (Tiny) passed away on February 6, 2008.  She was predeceased by her parents Thomas on October 16, 1967, and Elizabeth on August 6, 1983.

  A special thank you to the staff of the Benito Health Centre for the Care that they had provided to Mary since January 2019.

  At Mary's request, immediate cremation has taken place and a Inurnment Graveside Service will be held at Benito Cemetery Saturday May 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM DST.
