Mary Nemetchek Obituary

Mary Nemetchek

1938 - 2024

Mary Nemetchek (Nee Novotny) passed away peacefully with her family by her side October 28, 2024, at St. Boniface Hospital Winnipeg.

She was predeceased by her husband Walter, daughter Audrey, son in law Perry and her parents Emanuel and Maria.

She will lovingly be remembered and sadly missed by her children, Aldrich (Krisann), Christiaan (Diane), and her grand children Jordan (Jenna), Chantal (Brock), Teja (Patrick), James (Nadine), Brook-Lynn, Kylie (Tyler), Koby (Taylor), Keona, Keirra (Chesley), Kaisha and great granddaughter Harlow. As well as her brother Aldrich (Neomi) Novotny and niece’s nephews and Sweety her cat.

Mary was born in Volynia Poland (now Ukraine) July 19, 1938. She came to Canada in Feb 1939 and lived in Morden MB for 4 months before her parents bought a farm in Cloverleaf near Beausejour.  She attended school at Eastdale and Cloverleaf school.  After grade 11 she went to Winnipeg to work at Royal Alexandria for a year then attended Winnipeg Bible College (Providence).

Mary met her husband Walter through a mutual friend. They were married in April 1967 and moved to their farm in Ravensworth in the Minitonas area.  They welcomed their sons Aldrich in June 1968, Christiaan in February 1970, and their chosen Daughter Audrey joined the family in 1974.

Mary and Walter enjoyed many years of supporting and cheering on their children’s activities and being active in their church.

Besides being a full-time mom and living on a farm she worked at the Swan Valley Hospital.

She eventually moved to the village of Minitonas where she resided until her passing.

Upon retirement Mary loved spending time with family and many many friends.  There was always a place at her table and each person held a special place in her heart.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mary’s name to a charity of your choice.

The Scripture that she held on to was Psalms 23 1: Lord you are my shepherd I shall not want. Along with the whole chapter.
