Melvin George Staniland
1971 - 2024
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Melvin George Staniland of Lenswood MB on June 20, 2024, at the age of 53 years. Born and raised on the family farm in Minitonas, Melvin was deeply rooted in the land at a young age. His love of agriculture was instilled in his children and he loved working alongside them. He married the love of his life, Tanya, on July 27, 1998 and settled down just up the road from where he grew up. As a self-taught machinist, he had the talent to try and improve all things mechanical. When his work in the field was done, Melvin was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing, sledding, a passion for aviation and touring on his Harley with Tanya tucked in behind him. Melvin was a sensational conversationalist. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and was truly engaged with what the other had to say.
Melvin is survived by his best friend and one love Tanya (Patience), his precious children Morgan, Jorja, and Lincoln. His father and mother Bruce and Donna Staniland, brother Ken Staniland, and sisters Ione (Bruce) Anderson and Joyce (Kevin) Williams. Father and mother-in-law Dennis and Bernice Patience, and brother-in-law Curtis (Lynda) Patience. Nieces and nephews Austen, Katie, Breanna, Wade, Ben, Quincey, Daniel, and Clair. Great-nieces and nephews Finley, Remi, and Ember as well as numerous extended family and friends.
He was predeceased in death by many family members and friends that molded Melvin into the strong man he was.
Melvin spoke with pride of his family and their accomplishments and found joy in sharing these moments. His passion for life will continue through this family. We will miss him walking through the door with a smile on his face saying, “What’s going on?!”
A celebration of life was held on July 4, 2024, from the Veterans Community Hall in Swan River.
