On August 26th, 2021 Mervin Hather of Barrows,MB formerly of Red Deer Lake passed away at the age of 68 years.
He is survived by his loving wife Brenda (Nee Spence) and 3 children: Regan Hather (Rachel) Of White Bear, Saskatchewan, Elliott Hather (Lavonne) Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and Deidre Hather of Barrows, Manitoba, four grandchildren, Oaklen, Emma, Elijah, and Norman. Mervin had one brother Ernie (Doreen) Hather, niece Jullian Barker and nephew, Micheal Hather.
Mervin is predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Hather 1974, his brother Ernie Hather 2000, Sister-in-law Doreen Hather 2001. Father-in Law George Spence 2008, Brother-in-law Larry Delaronde 2007and Sister-in-law Stella Ewen 2007.
Mervin leaves to mourn, his mother-in-law Suzanne Spence, in laws Douglas Ewen, Diane McGillivary (Curtis), Sandra Ducharme (Walter), Sharon Parker (Harold), Mary Spence, Norma Fluery (Marty), George Spence (Lorna), Andrew Spence (Selina) and Nadine Spence. Also numerous nieces, nephews, Godchildren, foster children who called him “papa”. Relatives and friends.
Merv passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg with his wife and children by his side. He fought a lengthy battle with diabetes and was on dialysis for numerous years. The family would like to acknowledge all the doctors, nurses, and Health care workers who helped him along the way. Mervin graduated from Grade 11 OEC program in Frontier Collegiate Institute in Cranberry Portage where he made many lasting friendships. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator helping to build numerous roads and dams. He enjoyed his work very much and missed it. He’d say if someone would help me up on my dozer, I could still work. Merv was well known by family members for his love of children. He loved to play with babies to make them laugh and teach them new vocabulary. He liked to tease the older ones. Merv will be missed by all who knew him.
