Miriam Lepholtz Obituary

Miriam (Welke) Lepholtz, age 90, of Swan River, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, September 24, 2021, in the Swan Valley Health Centre.  Born March 11, 1931, in Esk, Saskatchewan, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Elsie Welke.

Miriam was a devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother.  She loved music, played the guitar, and sang in the choir at Temple Baptist Church. For over 10 years she also led a Scripture Memory program at Temple Baptist Church.  She enjoyed time at their cabin at Wellman Lake in the summers, camping with her children and grandchildren, fishing, and golf.  She was an avid gardener.  She looked after a large garden plot at their home and tended a large raspberry patch.  Her green thumb also extended into their home where she grew numerous flowers.  Miriam also liked to try out new recipes and spent a lot of time cooking and baking.  In her community she was part of 4H where she taught sewing for 10 years.

She is survived by three children; Valerie (Clifton) Sandford of Edmonton, Alberta, Mavis Green of Edmonton, and Sheldon Lepholtz of Swan River; six grandchildren, Vanessa (David) Wightman, Brandon (Sarah) Sandford, Carisa Green, Courtney (Kayla) Sandford, Drew (Brianna) Sandford and Justin Sandford; five great grandchildren, Lisette, Gwendolen, Hayley, Brooklynn, and Mackenzie.

Miriam was predeceased by her loving husband, Ray Lepholtz, her sister, Leona Dahl of Swan River, and her brother, Milbert Welke of Swan River.

A private gather is planned to Celebrate Miriam’s life.
