Peacefully with family by her side, Myrtle Sylvia Hart (Kelbert) passed away on October 15, 2022, at the Swan Valley Health Centre at the age of 85 from complications related to dementia.
Myrtle will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Ed Hart of 66 years (July 25, 1956). Myrtle was a loving mom to son, Max (June) and daughter, Connie (Lorrie) Lausman, both of Minitonas. Grandmother to Justin (Katelyn), Jenna, Joel (Ashley), Brittany (Kevin) Schroeder and Jace (Erika) Lausman. Great-grandmother to Addison, Luke, Braxton, Ayla and Bexley. Also grieving her loss are brothers Ervin (Dorothy) Kelbert and John Kelbert; her sister-in-laws, Vera Kelbert, Tabea Hart and Lily Siewert. She also leaves to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Myrtle was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Lydia Kelbert; sister and brother-in-law, Violet and Tom Leggett; sister-in-law Sherry Kelbert; brother Eric Kelbert; parents-in-law, Carl and Helen Hart; brothers-in-law, Joe Hart and Art Siewert.
Myrtle was born on March 21, 1937, in Swan River, Manitoba. She attended Croppertops School until Grade 8 and completed her education at Minitonas School. After her school years, she began working at Anne’s Style Shop in Minitonas. After Myrtle and Ed were married, she was employed at Dolovitch’s General Store. Myrtle was a stay-at-home mom when her children were small, and when Max and Connie were both attending school, she was employed at the Minitonas Community Store. She was very dedicated to her work and served the community for over 35 years.
Myrtle enjoyed growing a large garden and tending to a variety of flowers. She was a meticulous housekeeper and loved to entertain, always serving delicious meals, baking and goodies. Most of all Myrtle enjoyed gathering with her family for special occasions.
Ed and Myrtle had the opportunity to travel to Mexico, Hawaii, and several spots in the USA. They also explored parts of the Canadian East Coast, specifically PEI and Nova Scotia. The two especially enjoyed Expo ’86 in Vancouver.
Myrtle accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour and followed him in Baptism. She was the secretary for the Church Youth Group, active in the Home Builders Group, Ladies’ Fellowship and sang in the Church Choir for many years.
The family would like to express their thanks to the home care staff, rehab staff, the Swan Valley Personal Care Home staff, the palliative care staff, Dr. Koetting and Dr. Cazakoff for the kindness and compassionate care shown to Myrtle throughout the past year.
