Nathalie Olenick Obituary

Nathalie Estelle Olenick

1936 - 2024

Nathalie Estelle Olenick was born on March 29, 1936, to Maurice and Estelle Assoignon in Whitebeach Sask.  She was the youngest child of a family of 5 girls and 3 boys.  She attended school at Porcupine, a mile from their home, up to grade 9.  At this time, she took a position at a restaurant in Benito.  Fallowing this she was hired by Dr. Lou Matthews as a dental assistant in Swan River.

Nathalie married Paul Olenick on Aug 8, 1959, in Benito after several months of courtship.  She continued to work part time while raising her 4 children.

Nathalie loved the outdoors.  She worked very hard gardening, picking berries and mushrooms, a way to ensure that nobody went hungry.  Nathalie and Paul enjoyed camping and fishing at every opportunity.  Their children have many memories of BC trips, camping and fishing.

Nathalie also loved their winter vacations with family and friends, travelling to Mexico and Cuba many times.  In most recent years they spent their summers at Iskwasum landing until health issues prevented them.  As this was the first year that neither of them was there you will see the pictures on the bulletin of the bench placed in their memory.

Nathalie leaves to mourn her son Kelly (Cindy) Olenick, daughters Kim (Late Wes) Naclia, Koreen (Wayne) Kowch, Karmelle (Curtis) Foster,  grandchildren Lisa (Kolby) Danielson, Perry (Amber) Naclia, Tricia (Riley) Prokopchuk, Amy (Neil) Campbell, Krista (Steven) Smolinski, James (Jessica) Kowch, Kaylyn (Alex) Barsby, Kerri Kowch, Troy (Paige) Foster, Brooke (Cole) Foster, and 12 great-grandchildren,  brother Marcel (Verna) Assoignon, sister Rose Matthews, brother-in-law Vern Arno, brothers-in-law Ernie (Joyce) Olenick, Steven (Marj) Olenick, Eugene (Barb) Olenick, Dennis (Chris) Olenick, Adrian (Vera) Olenick and numerous nieces and nephews.
