Nick Bobick Obituary

Nick Bobick 1931-2020

On October 31, 2020 Nick Bobick passed away unexpectedly at home at the age of 89.

Nick was born to Metro & Nellie Bobyk on November 17, 1931.  Nick grew up with his two brothers Roy and Walter. Nick went to school at the Ruby school house and that is where he met his sweetheart Gaye Fullerton. Together they were blessed with a family of four, Don, Debbie, Tami (Tammela) and David.   Nick and Gaye were married 59 years before her passing in 2015.

Nick farmed until 1972 when he sold the farm moved to Swan River and started his trucking business with his son Don. His sons Don and David later purchased the trucking business and Nick retired at 55 to travel and enjoy life. Every winter Nick and Gaye travelled to Arizona where they met many life long friends. In the summer months, Nick started working for the Provincial parks working as a park attentant. He loved his summer job. In 2018, Nick sold his house and moved into Heritage Manor. He lived on his own until his passing.

Nick was a storyteller and loved telling jokes and making people laugh. His love for music and his violin was infamous and no matter where you went everyone knew Nick and his fiddle playing. He loved going to every coffee house to play his violin.  He was thrilled and so proud to see himself on PBS tv playing his violin at local coffee houses.

Nick was a proud member of the Swan River Legion Branch 39 for 47 Years.   He served on the board and was in charge of security for many years. He loved his Saturday afternoon meat draws at the legion and was always known for being the lucky winner.

Nick was predeceased by his parents Metro and Nellie, his brothers Roy and Walter, his wife Gaye, and his grandson Rob Anderson.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Don (Cindy) Bobick, Debbie (Rob) Dekker, Tami (Don Machan) Bobick, and David (Lynn) Bobick. Grandchildren:  Nicole (Elvis Cardenas) Bobick, Shayla (Chad) Nykolaishen, Alisa  Johnston and Clayton Bobick;  Michael (Courtney) Anderson and Chris Anderson; Aimee (Joel) Mateika, Jessica (Brock) Jersak.  He also had great grandchildren: Damian, Abby, Jacob, Brynn, Avery, Fallon, Carter, Ellie, Everett, Easton and Laken.

Nick was always there for his family through their ups and downs and taught them by example to enjoy every moment life has to offer. He would always say as you were leaving, enjoy life because life is short.

Nick will always be remembered, his memory cherished, and loved by all. He will remain our hero.
