Olga was born July 3, 1926 in Mikado, Saskatchewan. She received her education at McKay School in the Lenswood area. On October 26, 1947 Olga married Paul Genoway. Their daughter Virginia born June 6, 1949, first son Lloyd born November 11, 1951, and second son Kevin born on April 5, 1959; completed their family and all moved to a farm near Lenswood in 1950. They farmed for twenty-four years.

Paul began working for Kleysen’s Transport, which involved the family moving to many different locations; October 1973 moved to Lynn Lake, September 1975 The Pas, 1978 Medicine Hat, Alberta, 1979 Ear Falls, Ontario, 1980 Headingly, 1983 moved to South Glen Trailer Park in Winnipeg, until Paul retired in 1989 and they moved to reside in Benito.

Olga cooked for a telephone crew of seventeen men while farming in Lenswood, earning enough money to buy a complete se of Queen Anne pots and pans. She lovingly cooked many meals for family and friends throughout the years, and proudly shared this story over many years while washing dishes.

Olga was extremely talented, loved to crochet, knit, design and sew blankets. Her unique afghan patterns were carefully chosen for each of her family members to cherish forever. She also had a passion for plants and flowers, which were admired by neighbours, friends, family, and anyone passing by her flower gardens near the house. She had a green thumb and there was nothing she couldn’t grow. She loved playing cards and put together hundreds of puzzles throughout the years. Most of all, Olga loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren or chatting with them by phone.

On January 23, 2020, Mrs. Olga Genoway of Benito, Manitoba, formerly of Lenswood, Manitoba passed away at the age of 93 years. She is survived by her three children, Lloyd Genoway of St. Adolphe, Manitoba, Virginia Kraft of Houston, British Columbia, and Kevin Genoway of Swan River; seven grandchildren, Evan and Shawna Genoway.
