It is with deep sorrow that our family announces, on Thursday, October 31, 2024, Patricia Ann Maksymchuk of Swan River, Manitoba, formerly of Minitonas, Manitoba, passed away at the age of 79 years.
Pat is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Bill Maksymchuk of Swan River, Manitoba; son Ryan Maksymchuk, daughter-in-law Tracy of Swan River, Manitoba; son Tyler Maksymchuk, daughter-in-law Iwona of Calgary, Alberta and her beloved grandsons Aidan and Kieran of Swan River, Manitoba, now Calgary, Alberta.
Whether you knew her as Pat, Patricia, Aunt Pat, Grandma Pat, or Patsy, she will always be remembered as being deeply committed to her family, her friends, her community, and to her core values. She will be remembered for her fierce competitive spirit as a curler and a sports fan, for her love of cooking and baking, and of course for her wonderful gifts of friendship and conversation.
Pat lived a life full of warmth, resilience, and generosity. Her grandchildren were her greatest pride, and she filled their lives with love, laughter, and wisdom that will be cherished forever. Pat was a nurturing presence to all who knew her, and she will be remembered forever for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love.
Pat is also survived by her many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a great many extended chosen family and friends, all of whom she loved dearly.
Pat was predeceased by her father - George Cleaveley (1952), her mother - Janet Cleaveley nee McPhee (1986), her sister - Shirley Klatt (1998), her father-in-law - Metro Maksymchuk (2000), her mother-in-law - Helen Maksymchuk (2004), her brother - Donald Cleaveley (2012), her nephew – Blair Cleaveley (2017) and her brother-in-law - David Maksymchuk (2021).
If friends so desire, donations can be made in Pat’s memory to the Wellman Lake United Church Camp, Box 516, Swan River, Manitoba Canada R0L 1Z0, or to the Terry Fox Foundation, 886-167 Lombard Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0V3.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the St. Andrews United Church in Swan River, Manitoba at 10:30 hrs CST. An interment ceremony for family will follow immediately at the conclusion of the Church service at the Minitonas Cemetery, Minitonas, Manitoba, and a reception for guests following the interment at the Swan Valley Historical Museum, Swan River, Manitoba.
