Paul Yaschyshyn Obituary

Paul Yaschyshyn was born on June 24, 1937, in Ethelbert Manitoba to Alex and Anne Yaschyshyn. He was the eighth of twelve children or maybe the ninth as he was a twin with his brother Peter. He attended school in the Kerr District before the family moved to the Swan Valley. He continued school in the Swan Valley School district and completed his schooling at Duncan High School in Swan River. Upon completion of school, Paul started his 43 plus year career with the Department of Highways. Paul met Myrna Carlson after she started working in the Lab and Xray department at the Swan River Hospital. They married in 1968 and soon after started their family in Swan River. As the family grew, planning to build a house was a priority that started in 1972, and in January of 1974 with two small children and one more on the way they moved into the house that they planned and built, he was very proud to have built a home for his family, Shayne, Dwayne, Tracy, Kimberly, and Kevin. Paul lived there until his passing on December 22, 2021.

Paul was always focused on his family and his sibling’s families. He always made time to talk to his family, usually about the weather. He was the connection for a lot of the extended family. He always talked to Peter on Sunday night. He would routinely pass on events that were happening with his extended family and was a link for making everyone aware of what everyone within the family was doing. This is something that he continued, even though his health was affecting his memory, up until his passing. Something that will be missed.

Paul was a special person to his grandkids and attended fastball games, hockey games, figure skating carnivals but his favorite was seeing them Ukrainian dance which eventually included his great granddaughter. Grandpa Paul was a special person to her and picking her up from school was a priority over having coffee or anything else.

Paul will be sadly missed by his wife Myrna of 53 years and his children, Shayne (Shirley); Tracy (Dale); Kimberly (Sarah); and Kevin (Christy); grandchildren Amanda (Blake) and Shawn (Alecia); Steve Beepazoid, Blacky McFatso, Rocky Orange Devil; Sebastian and Samuel; Cadence; and great grandchildren Kemi, Hendrix and Lola; Chase and Rhett; his sister Patsy and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul was predeceased by a special little boy, his son Dwayne in 1984; his parents Alex and Anne, his sisters: Alice, Rosie, Steffie, Helen, Sylvia; his brothers: Nick, John, Peter, Myron, Edward; his mother-in-law Valdina and brothers in law Melvin and David.

In keeping with Covid19 regulations a private family service took place.
