Rachel Moosetail
1973 - 2020
On January 25, 2020, a wife, mother, sister, and friend left on her journey home. Rachel “Quanch” Moosetail of Camperville, Manitoba passed away at the age of 47. Survived by her loving husband Lance Moosetail and three children; Cassie Moosetail (Kristopher) of Camperville, Garret Moosetail and Blossom Moosetail, both of Camperville; also survived by Samantha Nepinak (William) and three children who were welcomed and loved as Quanch and Lance’s own. Quanch is survived by three brothers and three sisters; Patsy (Vaughn) Clarkson of Mafeking, Manitoba, Margaret (Wally) Chartrand, Albert (Anita) Richard, Gordon (Pamela) Richard, Norma (Steve) Chartrand, and Douglas (Margaret) Richard all of Camperville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rachel also had close friends who were very special to her until her death. Quanch was predeceased by her parents Clifford and Irene Richard; mother in law Albina Moosetail; father in law George Moreau; and nephew Karl Richard.
Quanch was born on January 13, 1973 in Swan River, Manitoba. Over the years she held many occupations, most of which included cooking; a pastime she enjoyed and was very good at. On July 1, 1995 she married the love of her life, Lance, and together they raised their beautiful family. Their children were their pride and joy. Quanch loved children and spent time with many of the children in the family. All her nieces and nephews knew Auntie Quanch was there for them, whether to be an ear to listen to or someone who would protect you, she would step up for each one. She cherished every one of her nieces and nephews. She was active in various community programs and volunteered until arthritis became overwhelming on her body and she was no longer able to participate.
One of her favorite things was to travel. Whenever a vehicle was leaving town Quanch was sure to be hoping on. Quanch would often be seen with her sister Norma playing bingo and usually up to shenanigans. If there was one thing Quanch enjoyed, it was spending quality time with each of her siblings, all of which she cherished. On nice summer days Quanch and Lance would go out fishing. It was said Lance and Garrett could catch numerous fish but could never beat the large fish that she caught. For past few years Quanch spent most of her time at home due to her illness, but still enjoyed her bingo nights as family and friends would bring the game to her house for her to enjoy. Quanch was a loving, caring person who would say what she was thinking and will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the nurses at Dauphin Regional Health Centre for the wonderful care and support during this difficult time. Also, a special thank you to Dr. Sheila Menard for caring for Quanch over the years.
Evening prayers were held from the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services, Swan River, Manitoba on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. The memorial service was held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, Camperville, Manitoba with Father Norberto Monton officiating.
