On November 7, 2022, our brother, uncle, great uncle and great great uncle passed away peacefully at the Swan Valley Hospital with his family at his side at the age of 68 years.
Randy was born in Swan River on October 23, 1954, being the 10th of 12 children to Ernest and Bertha Ray. He was raised in Big Woody and later moved to Swan River and attended schools in Lady Hubble and Swan River. He resided in the family home until the time of his passing.
His few years of employment started in BC and then in Swan River. In 1974, working for Pete Wowchuk logging, he suffered a life altering accident leaving him paralyzed.
He is survived by his loving brothers, Gordon (Bonnie), Kenneth (Linda), Terrance, and his sisters, Fay (Dawson), Jean, Edwina (Delmar), Elizabeth (Wayne), Elaine (Carman), sister-in-law, Annie and numerous nephews and nieces, great nephews, and great nieces, as well as great-great nephews and nieces. He is also survived by Aunt Marg and many cousins.
Randy is predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Bertha, Sister Florence and her husband Orval, Brothers Robert and Sheldon, brother-in-law Gordon, nieces Diane and Darla.
Randy was a Legion member and belonged to the Handgun Club.
Randy loved the Calgary Stampede and rodeos. He never missed a rodeo in Swan River if his health permitted him to go. He enjoyed his three-wheel bike pulling his nieces and nephews behind. He loved his visits to the legion to visit friends and play chase the ace or have a game of crib. His daily drive was to the Peyton farm to check on the crops and guys and of course feed his favourite dog, Mack. He enjoyed his lunches at the Timberland Inn to visit and catch up on the town gossip with his many coffee buddies. Randy was an avid Jets fan and rarely missed a game on his TV.
Pallbearers are his nephews Jason Ray and Curtis Foster, nieces Joanne Armistead and Corrie Foster, great nephews, Marty Peyton and Bredon Ray.
Honorary Pallbearers are his family and friends, legion members, home care workers, his nurse friends, and Timberland friends.
Randy is the one whom we will remember with warmth, think of with pride and cherish with love!
