Mrs. Ruby Josephine MacDonald (Gott), age 79, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Ruby was born in Sapotaweyak Cree Nation, Manitoba on November 14, 1946, to Bertha & Richard Gott.
Ruby shared her love, warmth and kindness with everyone who crossed her path. She loved camping with family, doing puzzles, traveling and visiting with family. She enjoyed bingo and garage saling, reading Danielle Steele novels and enjoyed watching curling and other sport events. She was a collector of caps and had quite the collection.
Ruby worked as a ward clerk/interpreter at the Weeneebaybo General Hospital in Moose Factory. She met her love of her life Joey in Moose Factory, and they went on to live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Edmonton, Alberta, Sapataweyak, Manitoba also living in Moose Factory, Ontario raising their family and before making their final home in Thunder Bay.
Ruby’s life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her family and devoted herself to ensuring those around her were loved and cared for. She was strong beyond words and was there for every milestone and hurdles in her family’s lives. She was a member of the St. Thomas Anglican Church, a place she visited for strength, prayer and solace. She was also a member of the Anglican Church Women’s group in Moose Factory.
Ruby leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and generosity that will live in the hearts of her family and all who know her. Her spirit will live on in the family she treasured above all else.
Ruby is lovingly remembered by her children; son Darin (Josephine), daughter Lori-Ann, son Walter, daughter Joanne, son Bob (Candida), son Andrew, grandchildren- Rain, Sky, Joey, Darin, Mackenzie, Andy, Nadine, Kyle, Rory, Marcus, Kevin, Kayleigh, Brandy, Quintin. Great-grandchildren- Sierra, Aiden, Nova, Pierce, Sunshine, Nero, Aurora, Amelia, Happy, Samuel, Andrew, Darrin, Daryland. Her sister Betty Ann, brothers Douglas and Stanley, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family.
She is predeceased by granddaughter Ashley, son Joey JR, and husband Joey SR.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sargent and Son Chapel, 21 N. Court Street Thunder Bay, ON. Visitation will be 1 hour prior. Interment will be determined at a later date. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
