Ruth Schroeder
1941 – 2020
Ruth Elizabeth Schroeder (nee Trofimchuk) passed away peacefully at the Swan Valley Lodge and Personal Care Home on January 22, 2020 from complications related to dementia. She was 78 years old and a long-time resident of Swan River.
Beloved wife to Irwin; much loved mom to Marla (Greg) and Lorilee (Daniel); wonderful grandmother to Hailey, Olivia, and Jaden; daughter to the late Andrew and Sylvia Trofimchuk; dear sister to Jean, Vivian, Jerry, Danny, and the late, Mike; and sister-in-law to Jim. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Predeceased by her in-laws Eric and Elsie Schroeder.
Ruth was raised in Minitonas, Manitoba where she attended Lidstone District School and then moved to Swan River to attend high school. It was there where she met Irwin. They married in 1963 and welcomed Marla in 1967 and Lorilee in 1971.
Ruth got her first job after high school. She spent most of her life working in Swan River. Ruth loved to work and enjoyed keeping herself busy. She was hardworking, funny, patient, kind and infinitely good. Ruth was a creative genius and enjoyed baking, party planning, sewing, knitting, crocheting, flower arranging, painting and reading almost any book she could get her hands on. She was a beloved wife and mother and the kind of friend that is irreplaceable. To have known her well was a treasure to be cherished. Now, a loss beyond measure.
An evening service was held on Monday, January 27, 2020 from the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from Temple Baptist Church, Swan River, Manitoba with Pastor Neal Effa officiating. Interment followed in Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River, Manitoba.
