On Sept 24, 1936, Mom was born in Boggy Creek, MB to Gordon & Nellie Nowlin. Mom grew up in Bellsite where she lived most of her life. She went to school in Bellsite and Swan River. On May 8, 1954, Mom married our dad, Joe Gornik and they had four daughters, Lillian, Joann, Donna and Melody. In 1989 Mom enrolled in the Health Care Support Worker program given by the Assiniboine Community College. She received her graduation certificate in May of 1990.
Over the years Mom had many different jobs, the last one being at Swan Valley Hospital as a housekeeping aid where she made many friends that she still has today.
After our dad passed in 1991, Mom sold the house in Bellsite and moved to Swan River. Soon after she retired from the Swan Valley Hospital and moved to Alberta where she resided for approximately ten years. Mom moved back to Swan River and remained in the Valley until her passing.
Our Mom loved walking and spending time with her family.
As per Mom's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private funeral will be held at a later date for family and invited guests.
