Steven Aaron Sanderson passed away September 24, 2024, at the age of 42 at
St. Boniface Hospital Winnipeg, MB. Steven was a son, father, brother, nephew,
cousin, and friend.
Steven was born July 14, 1982, in The Pas, MB, to Sheldon O’Neill and Jean
Sanderson. He was born with the spirit of a free bird, adventurous, and always
ready to explore. Throughout his childhood, Steven lived in multiple communities
and attended different schools. At the age of 15, Steven moved to Swan River
and lived with his grandparents, Clifford and Elaine O’Neill; he was the apple of
their eye. Throughout his life, Steven held many jobs and had many skills but his
true passion was commercial fishing, alongside his father Sheldon. Steven was
known for his thrill-seeking daredevil ways. He enjoyed the adrenaline of a fast
boat ride or a race across the ice on a Ski-doo. Steven loved the outdoors,
particularly hunting and fishing. Steven always enjoyed helping those he loved,
especially his great uncles and aunties.
Steven is survived by his parents Sheldon (Lori) O’Neill and Jean (Greg) Gallant,
his children Brielle Sanderson-Cook and Tristan Bourassa, his sisters
Shelby(Jimi) Packo, Leah O’Neill, and Megan O’Neill, his brothers Sheldon Jr.
(Rosalie) O’Neill and Levi O’Neill, his uncle’s Darryl (Lorraine) O’Neill, Ryan
(Shandy) O’Neill, Glenn Sanderson (Angela Wood), Jeffrey (Marguerite)
Sanderson and David (Mary Lou) Sanderson, and his aunties Niki O’Neill, Lena
(David) Thorne, Gloria Sanderson, Doris Sanderson (Dave Marion), Deborah
Bercier, Beverly Sanderson, and numerous cousins.
Steven was predeceased by his grandparents, Clifford and Elaine O’Neill, and
Fred and Annabel Sanderson, his uncle James Sanderson and aunty Harriet
Sanderson, and numerous great aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
