1951 – 2021
Wally was born in Barrows, Manitoba on January 11, 1951. He attended school in Barrows. Later on he relocated to Edmonton, Alberta to do construction and concrete work.
He met his sweetheart Joyce in Barrows School, and they lived together all their lives in happiness.
Wally loved his hunting, bingo, garage sales, trapping, fishing, quading, and skidooing. He loved the game show network and the show “The Fosters”. He loved to play cards; he and Joyce would play cards everyday. Wally loved to visit people and was kind to everyone.
Wally loved all his friends and relatives. They would hunt, trap, and fish very often. This was one of his most favourite past times. His hunting buddies will dearly miss his company. Wally was always the first off the “goose list”. They will never forget that he was #1.
He also loved to play baseball in his younger years. He was a good player. Wally played all over the provinces.
Wally Jones was a music legend. People from all over would come to listen to him. He loved to play and sing at the coffee houses and participated at the Barrows Music Fest every year. Through his travels he met many people and touched all their hearts. Today, online, you can find numerous videos of his performances. He loved the spotlight.
On May 30, 2021, Mr. Wallace Leslie Genaille “Wally Jones” of Barrows, Manitoba passed away at the age of 70 years at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
He leaves to mourn; his beloved wife Joyce Genaille, of fifty years; his son Derrick Langan (Stephanie); his grandchildren Swayde, Cruz, Julian, Abigail, and Sage; his great grandchildren Lina and Aiman; his god child Natasha Zastre (Kevin); his daughter in law Farrah (Ayoub); his sisters Mary Genaille and Lou Genaille; his brother Brian Monych (Grace); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Audrey and Henry Genaille; his sister Beatrice; and his brother Lloyd.
Wally was a proud Metis. He was always involved and willing to help at any event. Wally was a kind person and also a big joker. He loved to make people laugh. He made many friends with his humour and kindness.
Wally will be deeply missed by all his family and friends. His memories will live on through our stories.
An evening prayers and visitation was held from the Chapel of Swan Valley Funeral Services, Swan River, Manitoba on Friday, June 4, 2021, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A graveside funeral service was held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Whispering Pines Cemetery, Barrows, Manitoba with Father Norberto Monton officiating.
